What is a Municipality Tag?

Identification is crucial in being able to identify any lost or found pet. Apart from the usual identification of having your pet microchipped, have an engraved tag on their collar. The Dubai Muncipality has a mandatory directive that all cats and dogs must be registered with them through having a plastic tag, otherwise known as a Municipality Tag. This tag is renewable every year each time your pet is vaccinated. Your pet must be microchipped and proof of vaccination is required.

If your pet was to get lost and then found the Municipality tag has a unique number on it that will relate to your contact information held at the Veterinary Services Section at the Municipality.

Please ensure the tag is kept on your pet's collar at all times, it is no use if your pet gets lost and the tag is being "kept safe in a drawer" if your pet has the tag on his/her collar the likelihood of your pet being reunited with you is much higher.

Where do you a tag?
Most reputable veterinary clinics have the tags available. Call the clinic before hand to check availability, you will be required to provide your PO BOX number, contact details, microchip number and proof of up to date vaccination (ie innoculation book).
