Before Homely Petz was formalised, we adopted a Great Dane, "Duke" (bottom right) a handsome black Dane who was destined to stay in a back garden, with little shade, lousy food and no attention or love, his then owners not realising how big he would get after importing him in from Europe!!! His skinny body and gentle nature tugged at our hearts and we took him in. Unbeknown to us having a giant breed dog had its challenges, they eat a lot, cost a lot to run in toys and chews, need plenty of exercise, a large garden and even more love and understanding than some of their smaller canine cousins.

Our research on their health, nature and misconceived perceptions of owning a giant breed made us all the more determined to inform the people of Dubai to the gentle ways of this gentle giant. We adopted another Dane, "Doza", a Harlequin (black and white on the sofa below) from an unplanned litter in Sharjah and stay in touch with his siblings, a 3rd, "Charlie" who is now 10 years old and finally "King" Doza's brother who has re-appeared on the scene. We have also to date re-homed 11 Great Danes and 2 puppies and our very proud of this achievement. We organise occasional walks to get a group of Danes together and are approached by many of the vet clinics and K9 Friends when a Dane is in need of a home. We do not sell Great Danes only ensure neutering and then re-home them. Want to know more then visit the website address below.
